Age 11/12, difference between boys' and girls' shorts?

I don't know if anyone else is finding this but it's impossible to get a pair of denim shorts for DD1. She's 11, a bit chunky but only in age 12-13 clothes so not massively so. But she has tried so many pairs of denim shorts and none of them fit, even going up to age 15-16.

So I had a brainwave and am looking at boys shorts. Lots of denim, lots of elasticated waists (she has some sensory issues so hates buttons and zips) so all good. But are there any significant differences in the cut at that age?

If the shorts fit and she likes them it doesn't really matter if they are boys or girls.

Try a women's extra small, my daughter, (not tall, medium build) now shops more inthe women's section. (Primary, size 4 might work)

No it doesn't matter to me at all where they come from.

Thanks for the Primark tip. I never thought of women's shorts.

Mine wore boys as she was a chunk but no arse and waist type shape, so boy style fitted well. Most of her stuff at that age was John Lewis boy.
