Not sure if there are still any sad plane spotters left round these parts but spotted an interesting RAF plane off the north east coast of Scotland. It is rather charmingly called TARTN

Ooh whats it doing?

ginghambox · 17/04/2019 21:02

It is a refueling tanker.

MancaroniCheese · 17/04/2019 21:07

How do you know gingham - not challenging your knowledge but interested to know as when I was googling the callsign I ended up down a few rabbit holes

ginghambox · 17/04/2019 21:12

Don't know why it posted twice.

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 21:14

That’s a really common sight over the North Sea. It will likely be on a training sortie with some Dassault Falcon 20’s.

Longdistance · 17/04/2019 21:14

Interesting 🤔

MancaroniCheese · 17/04/2019 21:16

Oooh thanks for that I shall keep watching to see what it is doing although I don't expect the other military planes to show up on FR?

G-FFRA & G-FRAU are the falcons.

Also a couple of typhoons out there ZK343 & ZK383

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 21:27

That’s not the callsign. The callsign or G-FRAA is WARTHG81. It doesn’t show on FR24 though, just the aircraft type.

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 21:28

*of G-FFRA

I live near manchester airport, I love tracking the gigantic virgin atlantic plane to New York when it flies over my roof

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 21:31

I shall keep watching to see what it is doing

It will literally circle for hours then return to Brize Norton.

A couple of years and they will be retired. I think Virgin are the only 747 operators at Manchester now so make the most of it while it lasts.

TheChippendenSpook · 17/04/2019 21:48

I spotted a helicopter in Florida.

DH had both DDs at the retail park to watch the new Airbus tonight. He took the eldest to the airport last night, for the first flight. Loads of folk there.✈

Evilspiritgin · 17/04/2019 22:18

Ohh just found the RAF plane , usually I read these posts too late

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 22:25

ahhh

What airbus?

dottyp0104 · 17/04/2019 22:57

@Aaahhhbump Glasgow? I was watching online to see if it was going over my home lol

englishdictionary · 17/04/2019 23:07

Oh right. Not a new Airbus.

New aircraft type for Glasgow. Although not strictly a first visit as it has been in before.

acatcalledjohn · 18/04/2019 00:38

Looks like this one took off at RAF Coningsby. Not sure what it's doing this late at night?
