How long does it take for hair and make up in a salon?

DH and I are going to a very fancy do (I'm very very excited). I've been recommended a salon and I want to get my hair and make up done.

So.

I can dump the kids at MILs any time after 1.

The salon is offering appointments every 15 minutes.

We need to be fully dressed and leaving at 6pm.

oh, so the question is, should I get hair and make up done ASAP or leave it to later in the afternoon?

Hair an hour at most and make up 49 mins or so. I would go for lunch at one and make apt for 2.30

Oh about two hours then? That would get me home by 5 at the latest- stupid question- it won't run or anything in that hour? Will I need to sit like a statue for the hour?!
