Heinz no added sugar beans

Are totally rank. Was really looking forward to having beans on toast for tea, didn't realise they were no added sugar. Overwhelming taste of artificial sweetener and just awful, still got an aftertaste an hour later. Surely a bit of sugar is better for you than artificial sweetener 🤮

I had these once without realising, I spent my entire half hour lunch trying to figure out if they were off. Disgusting.

PinkBuffalo · 17/04/2019 18:20

Yeah I agree they are rubbish. I got them once by accident too! I look for the ones that don't say that now!

Isthisafreename · 17/04/2019 18:20

I agree. If you want to cut down on sugar, just reduce the amount of sugar laden food you eat. Don't replace it with artificial crap.

Whole Earth do very nice baked beans. They use apple juice to sweeten so not too sweet.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 17/04/2019 18:20

I should have known when the dog refused to clean the tin for me

Vile things. Devil's vomit in a can.

ScreamingValenta · 17/04/2019 18:23

They're awful. I'd rather have nothing than those excuses for baked beans.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 17/04/2019 18:24

I like While Earth ones. They are sweetened with apple juice.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 17/04/2019 18:24

Whole not while

Honeyroar · 17/04/2019 18:25

I got used to them and actually prefer them nowadays.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 17/04/2019 18:32

I'll never get used to the artificial taste, will make sure me or DP never pick them up again

I’ve had the weight watcher ones for years and the other week thought I’d try the Heinz low sugar ones instead. Yak. Totally rank. Thinking about it, pretty sure Heinz even even make the WW ones? Why are proper label ones so gross?

BendingSpoons · 17/04/2019 18:37

They were subbed in my supermarket delivery. I donated the remaining cans to a food bank but now I feel slightly guilty as they are so rank!

CherryPlum · 17/04/2019 18:52

Vile. Bought some by mistake, never again.

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 17/04/2019 18:53

Even the proper Heinz ones don’t taste like they used to.

Passthecherrycoke · 17/04/2019 19:10

They don’t have any artificial sweetners? Maybe they’re just gross when they’re not full of sugar? Grin

Friedeggsandcustard · 17/04/2019 19:12

We had these... I add a tablespoon of tomato puree and a dollop of brown sauce and they aren’t bad.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 17/04/2019 19:57

Passthecherrycoke it states sweeteners on the label and they definitely taste artificial

Iwouldlikesomecake · 17/04/2019 20:29

I had a look at these as I always buy the weight watchers ones.

They've got stevia or something in them haven't they? Didn't bother, sticking to the purple label ones! Glad someone else has taken one for the team and found out they are as ming as I thought they might be

(thanks)

goose1964 · 17/04/2019 20:32

I love them I really can't taste any artificial sweeteners in them.

Passthecherrycoke · 17/04/2019 20:41

They’re not artificial sweetners-it’s stevia. It’s on the label

Honeyroar · 17/04/2019 20:41

What's in the weight watchers ones then? I didn't realise they did them anymore. Wondering whether to just ditch baked beans, the regular ones are so full of sugar.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 17/04/2019 20:47

Will be sticking to full sugar Heinz beans in future, don't care whether the sweetener is natural or artificial...either way it's rank

OP posts:
Passthecherrycoke · 17/04/2019 20:49

According to Ocado weightwatchers have both sugar and sweetener in them

sighrollseyes · 17/04/2019 20:51

Yeh they are rank - taste sweeter than the original one.
My view is id rather have a smaller portion of the real ones knowing it's sugar I'm eating and not artificial sweetener!

Marmite27 · 17/04/2019 20:52

There was a big hoo-ha on a BLW page on Facebook recently as apparently they have honey in them but not on the label. So not suitable for under 1’s.

I gave up on Heinz complete after 35 years of loyalty. I buy branston now. Or bring home batchelors from Ireland Grin
