Anyone’s DC had a bug like this?

DS 10 was sick on Saturday, only once but it was pretty dramatic-there was a lot of it! Since then he’s right as rain in the mornings but lethargic and nauseous in the afternoons and evenings with tummy ache and slight temp. He’s eating ok. Anyone had a bug like this? I don’t know at what point to see the gp.

Does he have a sore throat or difficulty/pain swallowing? My dd had similar symptoms at the weekend and I think it may have been tonsillitis. Also had no appetite.

No, no throat symptoms. It’s frustrating when things like this linger, I’ve never known a bug to cause one sickness episode. It’s always been a day or 2 of d&v and then he’s bounced back.

My daughter had this two weeks ago and I posted on the children’s health topic and found others who’s child had the same
She was fine in the mornings, it just came on from around 4pm then she’d be crying, feeling sick, sleeping more.
It was the strangest virus.

She was also only sick once at the beginning!

Yep, mine had this a few weeks ago. Totally fine all day then nausea and stomach pains from mid-afternoon onward. Repeat for 4 days.

Both our school age DCs had something very similar. Just one sick episode at the start and then days and days of ok/not OK and a temperature that just wouldn't shift. Until it all went away! I was on the verge of seeing our GP when I couldn't get their temperatures down for so long, but then it all cleared up.

Thanks everyone, you’ve made me feel so much better (family history of IBD so I tend to over worry about unusual digestive complaints). Fingers crossed it’s this strange virus. I hope you all feel better soon xx

Realitea how long did it last?

Yes, the other day toddler had one sickness episode and then diarrhoea once a day for 4 days. Mainly he was tired and slept a lot!

Crunchymum · 17/04/2019 20:57

We had it for 2 weeks. Sickness for a day or 2 (but not much actual vomit) then feeling of horrible nausea for 3 days, then diarrhoea [only in the evening] for best part of a week.

Awful. DC2 was hit the worst. Other 2 kids had a variation of it but not as bad.

It was about two weeks for dd aswell. Started off feeling sick but still going to school, so eventually I let her have the day off. Then it got worse. She saw a nurse at a walk in centre and everything was fine. The next day she felt pretty much better. It did drag a bit

BlackeyedGruesome · 17/04/2019 21:54

Oh this is interesting DD has been feeling nauseous and off her food for a while.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 17/04/2019 22:36

I had that almost 2 weeks ago now, was fine at work then on the bus home I literally felt so nauseous and tired, chills, a few hours later I stopped feeling sick but had horrible stomach cramps, I lost my appetite i was fine by the next afternoon, felt a bit shit on Sunday but was fine again by Monday. My mum had it Sunday night and my DS was sick Sunday night and felt bad until the Tuesday then my brothers gf got it. It’s a horrible horrible bug 😖

Thanks for all the replies. He’s been awake since 5.30, full of energy, eaten a big breakfast. We’ll see what the afternoon brings!🤞🏻
