Don't know Earl's Court I'm afraid, but I would make my way to Buckingham palace and have a peep through the railings without lots of tourists , then walk up to Trafalgar Square ,ditto, then walk across the Embankment bridge to Southbank. The River always looks amazing in the evening and there are usually things going on eg the skateboarders , buskers, food stalls, London eye, a roundabout, and lots of decent child friendly chain restaurants to eat in like wahaca , giraffe etc.

If you are feeling flush there are restaurant boats, expensive, not wonderful food, but you get a good view of landmarks -they usually go down to the Thames Barrier and coming back is magical.
