Changing to plaster cast?

Hi all,
I have Adult ADHD and quite severe. I'm medicated for it, but still extremely hyperactive and active at my age.
2 weeks ago I was fitted with a walker boot for a very badly sprained ankle, and told I needed it for 6 weeks at least.
However, I'm struggling with the boot, and it's bent from my activity. I'm going back to fracture clinic on Thursday to see my consultant- what's the likelihood I'd be allowed to go into plaster to keep me off it and help with the recovery? I think that'd be the better option as the boot allows me to do too much.
Many thanks.

Sorry can't help you but here's a hopeful bump

I have a similar issue and currently in a plastercast.

Had my appt last week and consultant said he thought I ought to go back in my walking boot. I asked if I could have a cast instead. Partly because for my tendon problem I'd read that having it set at a certain angle helps the tendons and a boot can't do that and also because I keep taking the boot off to go to gym classes! Grin? Or even doing body pump with the boot on!

So I'm now totally non weight bearing and got another 3 weeks to go.

You can ask.

Though I have had the tendon problem for nearly a year. They may just say you need longer in the boot. I did previously have my boot on (most of the time) for 4 weeks.

Thanks, all.
I just keep wanting the boot off! I'm hoping my consultant will agree to the cast, especially as the boot is so clunky and hideous!

The cast will be worse from a clunky and hideous point of view I can promise you. I dream of having the mobility I had when I had my boot on now!

Had no idea that life on crutches was so hard. You might be allowed a weight bearing cast though which would be easier. I can barely get from my bedroom to the toilet!
