have namechanged for this as I don't want to out myself

I have worked extremely hard throughout my life and have ended up in a very good role, with extremely good pay. 2 years ago I changed role to something that didn't have as many day to day responsibilities so I mainly work on big projects.

But the people i work with now are horrific. The main person who I am involved with is insecure and spends his time trying to prove I am doing a bad job. The chairman of the company is delusional and the CEO has what I would call an abusive relationship with him where he can't say no to the chairman so I'm forever running around on wild goose chases to satisfy them both. But they are v loyal and have always paid me extremely well.

The clincher is they have not given out any equity and although my salary is above the average I would get in this role, it's really because I don't have the other incentives.

I'm getting headhunted in other exciting companies for my old original role that is a lot busier, has way more day to day responsibilities and would be a complete new start. But also at a lower salary (because I'm effectively overpaid) - I would probably get about 1/2 - 2/3 of my salary anywhere new (but still a good salary).

My eldest dc has left home. My youngest has one year left. Their father has historically paid nothing towards them but has helped out a bit with the eldest dc at university so I have no other reliable money source. I also help out my father who cannot meet all his bills.

Would you consider doing this? It's hard as I have no one else to really run this past!

Yes - the people you work with are everything. But I would ask at interview whether they would consider reviewing your salary after six months in the role pending performance to see if there may be scope to up your earning to what it is now. Good luck Smile
