Has anybody tried these ? I'm not a fan of HCBs usually but these sound like they might be rather good.

Perhaps not. I'll have to buy and try.

The trouble with the chocolatey ones is that they melt all inside the toaster! Mine were Tesco, though. Maybe eat untoasted. Tasted nice, I have to say!

I don’t toast mine I warm them in the oven, Tesco used to do choc chip ones but not seen them this year 😞

Personally, I prefer plain traditional ones. There is already an excess of chocolate on Easter Sunday, with all the chocolate eggs and cakes - adding yet more in buns would make me feel sick.
In my house, we have the hot cross buns for breakfast before church, and chocolate at that time in the morning is a bit yuk!
Besides, we’ve looked forward to the hot cross buns all through Lent - we only eat them once a year, and they’re delicious just with the dried fruit and mixed spice of the original recipe.

I've bought some this morning but I'll wait a day or two before sampling as I still have some crumpets.

Really nice butter is important too, for me it has to be President spreadable!

I finally got round to trying a couple today. Three days past the 'best before' date but toasted, so no matter. Very rich, moreish and quite tangy, despite the large chocolate concentration. Served with Lurpak. Last week, Booths were selling chocolate fudge HCBs. Hopefully they'll still have some tomorrow.
