It's breaking on bbc news, from the pictures it's a major blaze!

Thank you. It is beautiful and calming place. It brought us great peace at a very traumatic time.

Firefighter has been injured 😔 😔 😔 😔

Apparently a fire fighter is injured (sky news). This is so heartbreaking

I had a very vivid dream about the Notre Dame last night. Which is feeling very weird now.

God what a tragedy.

Sky news now causing confusion by showing previous clips of fire blazing alongside current state of affairs. Hard to know wtf is happening

I wish the BBC would stop quoting Trump, they should be quoting Macron or the Pope not somebody thousands of miles away who doesn't know what he is talking about

Macron has pulled out of his engagement (TV debate) this evening and has gone to the scene (where I hope he is not getting in the way).

The Vatican is leading prayers for the pompiers (not sure if Pope is doing that in person yet) - there isn't much else they can do right now, really

One fireman reported seriously injured.

The BBC just mentioned the injured firefighter. I hope it is a minor injury.
They have also said that the main structure will survive.

My stomach fell when I saw the drone photo on twitter.

If the images I'm watching are live (BBC), the hose that was being played into the North Tower from the extension ladder has been turned the other way, far into the nave, for some minutes.

I can't imagine they would do this if the North Tower were still on fire.

So I hope that's a really good sign.

'Structure saved'
Reuters news agency is quoting an official with the French firefighting team as saying: "We can now say that the structure of Notre-Dame has been saved from total destruction".

Sky saying the French fire fighters believe the remaining s structure is saved and it will take another 3 hours to get under control.

how can they say its been saved until structural engineers have assessed all damage?

Well now its thought that it won't collapse and its not all going to fall down.

Hopefully thats the opinion of a structural engineer and not some emotive jurno;!

Because they know the material and how it reacts in a fire...
