I want to ask a question about drink driving. Does anyone know if you lose your licence immediately if your caught drink driving a second time within a few years? Am in Scotland.

Doesn't it take a few weeks to go to court before you lose it? I'm hoping it's an immediate thing, once you are breathalysed and fail it.

I lost mine many decades ago and I only lost it after court. So about a month later and enough time to past my test. It was a first offense though.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 14/04/2019 22:16

When you say immediate, do you mean before court?

MrsGarethSouthgate · 14/04/2019 22:18

Cross post. No, the norm is to carry on driving until found guilty at court. Sorry if that's not what you hoped for.

ssd · 14/04/2019 22:18

What I mean is when it's a second time being caught, would it go to court much quicker than the first time and you'd lose it quicker?

No, same process. They don't escalate repeat offending

Nicknacky · 14/04/2019 22:20

No, they will most likely be given an undertaking to appear at court usually within 28 days or so.

I suspect someone has lost their licence for a second time and is pretending they aren't driving as their car us in the garage..... I know I can't but I wish to god I could find out.
