Is there a UK based period pant maker?

Really want to try some but modibodi and Thinx who seem to be the main players are USA based with associated shipping costs and hence difficult returns etc

Anyone bought any from a UK site and if so are they as good?

TIA

Cheeky Wipes do some but I think they're quite synthetic.

You might be able to get some made by one of the cloth pad/CSP makers - I'm sure I've seen them before.

I got some from cheeky wipes. First month I thought they were amazing. Second month they seemed to smell bad pretty quickly and made a rattly sound when worn with new (also synthetic) leggings. Mixed reviews!

Hmm looks like accepting the shipping cost and going with the established brands is best then?

Katinkka thanks for link yes it works but they say you have to use a tampon too whereas the Thinx ones can be worn alone I believe?

Think Wuka are UK based.

Katinkka · 14/04/2019 19:54

Oh sorry. I use them to prevent leakage.

I have to say I'm dissapointed. I was hoping this was about buying authentic Elizabethan or Tudor era pants with people arguing over button placement

rightreckoner · 14/04/2019 20:01

Not sure but Diary Dolls?

samlovesdilys · 14/04/2019 20:12

I think WUKA is a UK brand...

Catoninetails · 14/04/2019 20:51

Crease Free Clothes do them

WUKA definitely a uk brand. I know the lovely lady who set it up.

I bought mine from ModiBodi and they delivered via Royal Mail Tracked within 3 days so must have a UK distribution centre. I had to return an unworn pair too because they had a small tear in the fabric. Again, easy to return and they replaced them immediately.

I've just ordered an additional 3 pairs from them.

Duckyneedsaclean · 14/04/2019 21:46

Would recommend modibodi. They deliver via royal mail, it's free delivery if you spend over £50, or a fiver otherwise.

Grimbles · 14/04/2019 21:56

With period pants do you just put a pair on in the morning and that's it for the day (and then another clean pair overnight)?

Watching with interest. I bought a pair of Thinkx from the US. Initally they were great, much nicer than pads, cloth or plastic ones.

After only a couple of months (so only two periods) the elastic has started to show through the waist band and they look really tatty. Also, as they're from the US the postage was extortionate. I though I paid in full on the website but had to pay extra at the post office because they ballsed up the shipping. So I paid £50 for a pair of pants that are falling apart after a couple of months. Booo.

palomapear · 15/04/2019 09:40

I had to pay almost as much in customs duty from Thinx as I did for the pants!

I tried Modibodi, they were ok

I also have Wuka and they are by far the best. The absorbent area is much bigger and they seem to wash well.

mumoftinyterrors · 15/04/2019 10:59

@Grimbles
I use the heavy/overnight pants during the night and have some medium flow ones that I use during the day. On my heavier days, I might change the pants midway through the day or tend to switch to an overnight pair, especially if I'm going gym and I'm jumping around 😆 They are really comfortable, and I haven't had any leaks since swapping from pads and tampons. Never would have believed it when they were first suggested to me but can honestly say they have changed my life.

Andonandonan · 15/04/2019 11:02

I have cheeky wipes ones. They are a lot cheaper than modibodi etc so I thought worth a try. Though 2 months in and elastic is already going round the waist so not great.

Grimbles · 15/04/2019 14:05

Thanks mumof Smile

I'm looking at the Wuka ones but I am put off by the name being all around the waistband!
