Quick question- what to buy a 7 year old boy for birthday gift

Got a birthday party on Thurs and only got girls so not sure what the latest ‘boys’ thing is. Happy to spend £30-40 to get a ‘wow’ or at least a big smile.
Ideally something not online so we can go and choose it from a toy shop. We have The Entertainer nearby.
Any ideas?

Posted too soon, don’t know if he’s into Fortnite or Roblox so will perhaps avoid these, he’s quite a young just turning 7.
Asked my dd to suggest something he likes and she said Barbie princess make up set so don’t think she’s reliable although you never know.

I wouldn't do fortnite, just incase it's one his parents are keeping him away from.
Yes to any of the other suggestions.

Not Fornite! DD is 7, most of her friends are boys, none of their parents allow them Fortnite.

My DS loves Hot Wires. He uses it to make circuits for working radios, lightbulbs etc. He plays with it for hours and has the bonus of being fun and educational! The set we got him was around £41

Hot wires...

oh yes, we have snap circuits which are similar. DS7 loves them.

Thanks- think will go for a hot wires or snap circuit set. Found one about £41 which is just over budget but looks great.
