Septic arthritis - should I be worried?

My friend (73) was admitted 3 days ago with septic arthritis, she has had it before so knows the drill. Was advised they would decide if she needed antibiotics or taken to theatre once an MRI scan had been done. So not on antibiotics at the moment. This will not be done until Monday and she has now been moved to a High Dependency Ward with high temperature, shivering and chills. I'm away at the moment and going on what her DH is telling me. I've advised him to speak to the hospital and ask about sepsis. Am I over reacting? My dad dies of sepsis, so I know how I worry about it.
