Which cough mixture?

Will chesty cough mixture do for a cough that produces the grossest amount of mucous plugs from behind the nose down into the throat do it? Or do i just go for tickly cough which is effectively just soothing?

Which is the best cough mixture for a 9 year old

I like the boots “chesty cough and decongestant” it’s got stuff in it to dry up mucous and more stuff to break up mucous. It’s 6+ but check with pharmacy as quite strong.
Most kids cough syrup is just glycerol to soothe the throat and doesn’t do much more than a hot drink would IMO

Years ago a chest consultant told me that any cough medicine that is strong enough to work would knock you out! He recommended the age-old solution of steam inhalations.

Try honey in warm water

Cough medicines are basically sugar / sucralose. Better off with honey and warm water.
