Finding grandfathers date of death

expanded · 12/04/2019 22:45

My grandfather passed away 15years ago, nobody can seem to remember the date. I know the month and year and within a 2 week period. Where can I find this information? I joined an archive sight using a free trial but it only showed the month and year the death was registered. Any help would be gratefully received.

If you know where he died, you could get a duplicate of his death certificate from the registry office. You will have to pay a small amount to do so.

Yy to ordering a death certificate

You could also try an Ancestry free trial, which usually shows precise dates if he died in the UK

The free trial at Ancestry is excellent.

Order a copy of his death certificate online from www.gro.gov.uk, which is the official site. That will give you the exact date of death.

The only way you'll get the exact Date if death from Ancestry is if he left a Will and us listed 8n the Probate Calendar.

Ordered a certificate at a cost of £17! I only need one number, even after I'd paid over the phone they wouldn't give me the date of death.

I tried different online sites but had no luck. One mentioned the month the death was registered but that's as close as I got.
