Has anyone done PPI claims themselves? If so, is there anyway I can find out step by step exactly how to do it? Thanks

Yes, it was straightforward. I just went to my banks webpage on claiming PPI, filled in the forms with all the info I had and sent it off. Which bank?

Good guide here:

While you're at it, have a look at claiming bank account fees. Also very easy if you've ever had an account with fees.

My husband has done a couple himself. Just phoned up the bank or whoever lent the money and said he wants to claim his ppl back.

Yes, did two myself, one a complete win (Barclaycard) and one a partial win ( Nationwide)
I got 14k from Barclaycard, and 2k from Nationwide.

I also got back 2K of fees back from Natwest, using the free service on that money saving expert site ( I think it is called Resolver).

I got the inspiration to do all the above from posts on Mumsnet, and although filling in all the forms is long and tedious and soul destroying, it is worth it, and is quite simple, yet tedious.

Barclays was dead easy when I did it 5 years ago, filled in the forms for 2 of dh's badly managed credit cards which were pretty high in the red in 1990s-early 2000s, not expecting much and had 2 cheques for £4k-£5k each arrive in the post less than a week later. Both went to paying off the mortgage earlier.

I've done loads, now it's much easier as the banks know they have messed up selling PPI. Make a list of anyone you have had PPI from, no matter how old they are & ring each one, most have a department that deals with it or go on Moneysavingexpert.com & follow the advice on there.

Yep did it with Natwest they have the forms on their website .

Yes, did it with Halifax and barclaycard. Dead easy, requested forms via their website, filled them in and had a positive result within 3 weeks.

Bear in mind I also had none of the original paperwork and one credit card I took out 30 years ago.
