... And touch fingers with your other hand coming up diagonally from below?

I have never been able to do this, regardless of my size or fitness. Otoh elderly mil can easily do it.

Which is more common?

EnormousDormouse

😂 Thanks for clarifying!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/04/2019 18:17

Yep. I can bring them over my head like that too.

A girl in my school could hold hands in front of her, step through them and then take them up her back and over her head! I couldn't — I'm flexible but my bum was too big to get them past it!

fussychica · 12/04/2019 19:01

Yes only one way round though, no idea why.
I'm ancient but I can still put my hands flat on the floor when standing with feet together but can't get my forearms one the floor as a pp said their sister could. I do the touching the floor thing 20 times every morning as part of my stretching and weights routine otherwise I would probably seize up pretty quicklyGrin

shitpark · 12/04/2019 19:14

I can but only on one side.

Mememeplease · 12/04/2019 19:43

There are many more yes's than no's. I'm the odd one Shock

DD can almost touch. Closer than her brother anyway. So the toilet theory stands.

I can put my hands flat on the floor whilst standing
My 94 year old Grandad could do that right up till he died. I didn't get my flexibility from his side of the family obviously, although tbf I can touch my toes better than I can do the shoulder thing.

I can hold hands one way but not the other - I'vealways been able to,I think it is hyper mobility but was always told I was 'double jointed' .
I used to be able to put my hands flat on the ground when bending over,I can't at the moment but reckon a bit of practice would fix that.
I used to sit on the ground with my legs bent out at the hip,and back at the knee, flat to the ground ( a bit like the opposite of cross legged!) .That I haven't been able to do for years as it does my hips in!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 12/04/2019 21:06

I can do one side but not the other.

BlackPrism · 12/04/2019 21:53

Yeah, easily but I can also put my hands flat on the floor straight legged and answer my foot like a phone. I blame biting my toenails as a child Grin

BlackPrism · 12/04/2019 21:54

Oh I'm hyper mobile too though, my elbows go back at a strange degree

Mememeplease · 12/04/2019 22:00

My elbows go back at a strange degree

Oh stupid me, I read elbows as eyebrows for some strange reason. And no I haven't been drinking!

ShesABelter · 12/04/2019 22:14

I can yes.

Whynham · 12/04/2019 22:15

Before last week yes I could, both ways but I injured my shoulder pulling out roots when digging in the garden last weekend so right now I can't even do up my bra strap.

ProfessionallyUnoffended · 12/04/2019 22:15

Ha ha EnormousDormouse, that was what I was (badly) trying to explain upthread what I can do!

DramaAlpaca · 12/04/2019 22:17

I can do it one side but not a hope with the other.

GlitterPixie · 12/04/2019 22:21

Nope I can’t

bakebakebake · 12/04/2019 22:26

Nope!! Very far away!

CurlyMango · 13/04/2019 18:12

Both sides. Also touch hands flat on floor with feet together. Not Especial fit.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 13/04/2019 18:15

I can do it on one side, but not the other side.

I'm a lopsided freak!

Streely · 13/04/2019 18:15

Yes, but it’s much harder to do it on one side than the other.

Stravapalava · 13/04/2019 19:04

Yes I can, on both sides. Although harder on one side than the other. It's a yoga pose and I do a lot of yoga.
