... And touch fingers with your other hand coming up diagonally from below?

I have never been able to do this, regardless of my size or fitness. Otoh elderly mil can easily do it.

Which is more common?

Yep I can but then I have hypermobility

TwinsTrollsAndHunz · 12/04/2019 10:47

Yes but I have orangutan arms

Jojoanna · 12/04/2019 10:52

Yes only one side but it rather hurt

SickOfThePig · 12/04/2019 10:52

Yup. I'm overweight and very unfit ( huge pregnant lump). I can scratch the back of my head underarm too. Just something i'm able to do.

Hazeintheclouds · 12/04/2019 10:57

Yep.

tardyheart · 12/04/2019 10:59

No. Not even near.

I do have short arms though (t-rex Grin)- Would say I'm relatively fit & flexible (run 10k, play sports & do weight training weekly)

VeronicaDinner · 12/04/2019 11:07

The real challenge is if you can do that and then sit cross legged and touch your forehead to the floor.

Mmm three posts Grin

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/04/2019 11:13

Have never tried that one before, VeronicaDinner but I just tried and yes I can!

Jinglejanglefish · 12/04/2019 11:19

Yes I can and I can do that too VeronicaDinner, I can also get my head to the floor in a wide legged forward fold. I have been doing yoga for years though!

bsc · 12/04/2019 11:22

I've been a 14, and I've been a 4, and I've never been able to do this! My ds can do it, and in fact reach further (like grasp each wrist with the other hand IYSWIM)... he has a v clicky shoulder though, so perhaps a bit hypermobile?

bsc · 12/04/2019 11:23

Actually, maybe he just has orangutan arms, as he always grows out of tops at the sleeves first! Confused

EnormousDormouse · 12/04/2019 11:24

Yes I can fully clasp hands to the wrists too.
....And for my party trick I can put my arm right round my head, reach under my chin and grab the earlobe of the same side as the arm Grin

EnormousDormouse · 12/04/2019 11:25

...if that didn't make sense - I can reach around my head with my right arm and grab my right ear lobe

Jinglejanglefish · 12/04/2019 11:45

I can't even imagine what that looks like EnormousDormouse 😂

SickOfThePig · 12/04/2019 11:51

I'm having trouble imagining it too. Just tried to do it and was a bit baffled.

RottnestFerry · 12/04/2019 12:47

I can put my hands flat on the floor whilst standing

You must have very long arms (or very short legs).

TwinsTrollsAndHunz · 12/04/2019 12:59

Rottnest, I can do that too. The hands flat on the floor thing (with straight legs and feet flat on the floor). I am averagely legged for my height but it is my orangutan arms coming into play again.

TwinsTrollsAndHunz · 12/04/2019 13:01

Obviously I am bending forward at the time.

GottaGetUp · 12/04/2019 13:07

Hands flat on the floor is much more about tightness of hamstrings than length of arms. You need to close the angle between torso and legs to get close.

managedmis · 12/04/2019 13:08

No way.

I can't even bend my thumb at the middle joint, or do the Brownie 'I swear' thing either Confused

managedmis · 12/04/2019 13:09

I can do the hands flat on the floor thing standing too.

CountFosco · 12/04/2019 13:10

Yes, I can hold hands both ways. My shoulders are flexible but I still get pain in them regularly. Rest of me is reasonably flexible, I do yoga and am a bit more flexible than about 90% of people in most classes but there's pretty much always someone superflexible who can do some of the weird stuff PPs have said they can do.
