If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I'm pretty certain it would be roast chicken, roast spuds, cabbage and gravy. Or maybe steak, pepper sauce, jacket potato and peas. It's a tricky one.

Pud would be sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream fo sho

I love threads like this, I love the thought and consideration that have gone into the answers Grin.

I would really struggle to reduce it to one meal - it was hard enough when I did a thread a couple of years ago asking which 3 meals ppl would live on forever (cost, nutrition and sustainability not being an issue).

Love the Frito misto idea (on a hot day with a really cold crisp white wine). With focaccia and good olive oil for dunking. Maybe that should just be the starter.

Will give it some serious thought...

Full English. Breakfast is the best meal of the day.

BikeRunSki · 12/04/2019 13:07

I think about this a lot 😂

Prawn cocktail starter, roast chicken dinner and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream

HotChocolateLover · 12/04/2019 13:30

My husband does the most amazing steak with home made Diane sauce. So that, with sweet potato wedges. Desert is a bit tricky but my mum does an amazing strawberry pavlova so i’ll Choose that.

Franks hot wings with sour cream dip and shredded salad

Cajun chicken escalope with creamy mash, mushrooms, green beans and pepper sauce

Peanut cake from the sandwich shop near here.

Oh shit this is too hard.

Spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread?
Pizza?
Fish and chips?
Roast dinner?

Millionaires cheesecake?
Ben and Jerrys cookie dough ice cream?

Argh it's too hard

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 12/04/2019 14:06

AguerosAngel · 12/04/2019 14:27

Gambas Pil Pil (with a fuckton of crusty bread)

Aubergine Dumplings with Dark Honey

An After Eight Cocktail and a gallon of White Rioja to wash it all down.

All consumed sat outside our favourite bar in Plaza de la Tribuna, Arroyo de la Miel.

From a particular Chinese takeaway in Northumberland:

Starter of pancakes with duck in plum sauce and spring onions.

Main of their chicken curry with fried rice, spring rolls, prawn toast and prawn crackers.

Dessert (not from Chinese) Orange jelly, decent vanilla ice cream and hundreds and thousands.

This is what first popped into mind when seeing the thread title, but reading posts about roast meals a roast gammon and all the trimmings would come a very close second.

I am now feeling homesick as moved away from gorgeous Chinese Northumberland a few years ago and long to go back just for the chicken curry, I wonder if it is still owned by the same person and how long it would take me to walk there from the South West, would I be there in time for tea? Will get my shoes on.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 12/04/2019 16:33

sourdough toast/avocado/lemon/poached egg, yes that's a starter if I say so

homemadegin · 12/04/2019 16:41

Macaroni cheese garlic bread and salad.

I don't think I have a favourite pudding or starter.

I asked my nephews thus the other day on a walk. The seven year old said lemon chicken the three year old said an orange!!

NarcissistMum · 12/04/2019 16:47

Spam fritters to start.
Pork belly, sweetcorn, peas, rattatouille, Jacket potato with butter.
Huge portion of Pecan pie with clotted cream.

Would we have to eat this all in one sitting, or could I have a food coma, then go back for left overs?

LesLavandes · 12/04/2019 16:50

It's a toss up between chicken, ham and leek pie with french petit pois and creamy mash or full roast Christmas dinner.

Pudding - vanilla haggen daz with frozen maltesers.

Yummy chilled white wine

Processedpea · 12/04/2019 16:50

Coco pops

FenellaMaxwell · 12/04/2019 16:55

Blue fillet steak, chips, bearnaise sauce.

caringiscreepy · 12/04/2019 16:58

Salt and chilli squid
Duck with red wine jus , green beans and Dauphinoise potatoes
Chocolate fondant

JazzersMaw · 12/04/2019 17:01

Baked potatoes with lots of salad - and grated cheese.

JazzersMaw · 12/04/2019 17:02

And it’s got to be done in a conventional oven. None of that microwave shit!

mrsm43s · 12/04/2019 17:09

Hmm, my first thought was Curry House Lamb Dhansak with a plain naan and mushroom rice, maybe with sag paneer on the side.

But I don't really do Indian restaurant starters or puds.

So starter would probably be baked Camembert or garlic mushrooms.
Pudding - I'd go for something chocolately, or, for preference, a good stinky cheeseboard.

Put all together it makes a pretty weird meal though!
