I'm pretty certain it would be roast chicken, roast spuds, cabbage and gravy. Or maybe steak, pepper sauce, jacket potato and peas. It's a tricky one.

Pud would be sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream fo sho

I think it would be what I order from my local Greek restaurant: taramasalata, pitta, calamari, greek salad, lamb chops, patates and aubergine with skordalia. I'd obviously take my time.

This is a game that brings me far too much anxiety because I can't choose! I overthink it. I mean, do I have to shop and cook this meal or is someone doing it for me? If I choose steak can I choose the quality or do I risk getting a ropey bit that's not nice now and again?

I like good way to much to make such an important choice.

Cheese board would have to be in there somewhere though because cheese is everything.

Lllot5 · 12/04/2019 11:20

Pie mash and liquor for me too Christmas mouse.
Don’t forget jellied eels

isseywithcats · 12/04/2019 11:48

Connieston · 12/04/2019 12:09

Proper jacket potato with butter cheese and beans. Plus a dollop of sour cream.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 12/04/2019 12:12

Starter: Fried mixed seafood (the kind of thing you get for lunch in Spain or southern France) with some French baguette and normandy butter and a lemon for squeezing. Glass of San Miguel or Estrella to go with.

Main course: roast shoulder of lamb, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, cabbage and leeks cooked together, glazed carrots, cauliflower cheese, mint sauce, gravy. Glass of Picpoul to go with.

Third course: cheese plate with lots of home made crackers must include roquefort, a good brie, jarlsberg, red leicester, and some kind of Italian soft cheese. Glass of Merlot to go with.

jacquesjacques · 12/04/2019 12:13

@BumbleBeeWineGlass same!! I always think I'll say 'sandwiches' so then I have lots of variety and options, but what if the sandwiches end up with shite in them because I wasn't specific enough??

Moominfan · 12/04/2019 12:16

My nans brown stew chicken with all the trimmings. Followed by her apple crumble and custard.

fluffiphlox · 12/04/2019 12:21

A good quality roast chicken, new potatoes and salad with homemade dressing.
A proper fresh fruit salad.

Tiptopj · 12/04/2019 12:22

Starter: a shredded duck salad with plum sauce dressing
Main: pasta stuffed with mushrooms and cheese, with more cheese grated on top, drizzled with pesto and sprinkled with toasted pine nuts
Dessert: strawberry gateau with the nuts round the side or a black forest gateau
Drink: pina colada
Cheese board- yep with walnuts and grapes

I haven't ever thought about this before promise Wink

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/04/2019 12:33

Ploughmans for me, fresh crusty bread, salted butter, Farmhouse Cheddar, a strong creamy blue and a strong, oozing, rinded cheese with crunchy pickled onions and homemade chutney.

Not so bothered about puddings, but I am partial to fresh profiteroles with whipped cream filling (no alcohol or other flavouring) and hot chocolate sauce.

ALemonyPea · 12/04/2019 12:42

Platter of stinky cheese, crackers, crunchy baguette, grapes and cornichons.

Baked cookies and cream cheesecake

managedmis · 12/04/2019 12:42

Chicken dupoaza, garlic naan, pilau rice.
