Aren't they cold?

Was at Wagamama for lunch today. It seems this is THE place for teenage girls to go. From where I was sitting I could see 4 half bare backs. I was cold in my very sensible 3 good layers.

  • aren't they chilly?
  • why do they all take pictures of their food?
  • how do they pay? I'm pretty sure I remember my paper round only stretched to a Maccy Ds.

I would love to know the answer to your first question as I am constantly thinking that when I see girls wearing very little in winter! I think some of them ARE cold - but they need to look cool!

shitpark · 11/04/2019 21:42

I never felt the cold when I was younger, so it's possibly an age thing. And I suppose they all have generous allowances

kaytee87 · 11/04/2019 21:46

I didn't feel the cold when I was a teenager.

Laiste · 11/04/2019 21:52

Oh lord, my dear departed dad would always be hollering after me about where's my coat and where's the rest of my bloody skirt when i was a teen in the 80s. This isn't a new thing.

Between the ages of 14 and 18 i did not possess a winter coat. The only conssession i would make to winter (and that's only if it was actually snowing) would be a pair of flesh coloured tights under my fish nets and a 1960s 2 tone mens suit jacket worn over my t shirt.

Yes, i was cold. But being cold aged 15 while looking ultra cool and waif like just is NOT the same as being cold in your 40s and looking like a prat.

Another one here who didn't feel the cold as a teenager. Long thick hair probably helped!

hugoagogo · 11/04/2019 21:59

I used to never wear a coat, I wore a tour tshirt and a mens lambswool cardigan from m&s with mg jeans and monkey boots.
I remember having a theory that as soon as I started wearing a coat, I would 'get used to it' and need a coat.Confused

Now I need thermals 6 months of the year! Maybe I was right all along? Hmm

(Teen) DS was interested in getting a motorbike.
My mind boggled, how can motorbikers possibly be warm enough at 60mph and temps around 5 deg C? HOW do they keep their hands warm enough??

Colleague (now age 60+) used to ride m-bikes said it's a youth thing; he used to ride in barely any layers & wasn't cold. Now he shivers just thinking about it.

HoobleDooble · 11/04/2019 22:36

@DuesToTheDirt just on your head or all over, like a pelt?

ShabbyAbby · 11/04/2019 23:00

No they are not cold they are hot blooded and young
They take pictures of their food for social media
Mummy and Daddy pay because they wouldn't want their poor offspring to have to eat a 99p burger or McFLurry like they did because of clean eating and all that

HTH

TapasForTwo · 11/04/2019 23:02

I did feel the cold as a teenager. I have always hated feeling cold.

YesQueen · 11/04/2019 23:03

I still don't take a coat on a night out. Even if it's snowing, if I'm out around bars/clubs then I'm not wearing a coat GrinBlush
Yes I live up north

DuesToTheDirt · 12/04/2019 16:35

@HoobleDooble my hair was waist length so I guess it felt rather like a pelt Grin
