how long after a wisdom tooth extraction

do I need to avoid brushing/rinsing/vaping/drinking through a straw?

I got after care instructions but just realised they say ‘until healed’ and I have no idea how long that takes. I googled it but obviously I can’t avoid brushing my teeth for 7-10 days 😬.

plus I miss vaping. But am too scared to end up with dry socket

Ring the office of the oral surgeon who did the extraction. This should have been included in your post op/discharge instructions.

They don't want you making physical contact with the extraction site with another object until it's healed over. That's why the prohibitions are about objects you would insert in your mouth.

Are you having them all out?

I had one and my dental surgeon advised to not do a single thing to my mouth but a super gentle salt water rinse (really super gentle just hold the water in your mouth then let it dribble out over the sink) in the first 24 hours then gentle brush after 48.

Don’t eat anything bitty like rice for a few days. I mainlined smooth soup, soft white bread and ice cream and jelly for 3 days.

No one told me this, I brushed gently the night they were out!

I must say it was weirdly easy, barely needed paracetamol, swelling was minor and gone around three days. No issues or pain

I was told ‘no hot liquids’ as the only advice, AFTER I’d had a cuppa post GA

Was also told no hot liquids. I just had the one out yesterday. It’s fine today but I’m so paranoid to dislodge the clot!

Had upper wisdom tooth extracted and brushed gently the first night and ate soft foods for a few days.It healed up after a week although upper wisdom teeth are much quicker to heal than bottom I believe.
