Celebrities don't seem like real people to me.

I can't imagine them doing normal every day things or loving their children or just being regular people, especially the A list stars.

I have a complete mental block on the subject. I have autism so I'm not sure if this is why I struggle with the concept.

Is there anything that you just can't grasp no matter how hard you try?

Space, and the fact that once there was nothing. I can't grasp the concept of nothingness at all. It hurts my brain.
I kind of get what you mean about celebrities. I think it might be a disconnect. We build images of them based on what we see in the media but that doesn't extend to their private lives with their loved ones. We have nothing to go on and therefore can't imagine it.

It’s not so much celebrity as wealth.

Having money usually means that people will delegate everyday tasks.

I can’t imagine Madonna taking the bins out, for example.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/04/2019 12:24

Celebrities are only celebrities to us.
To their friends and family they're just a n actress or singer etc.

BoglingToAswad · 11/04/2019 12:24

People getting enjoyment out of making others feel bad. I just don't understand the thoughts/emotions of a bully.

Death. You cant be nothing forever. head explodes

Space baffles me too. It's endlessly fascinating but also completely beyond my understanding.

Speaking of putting the bins out, I recently saw a photo of my favourite celebrity putting rubbish in his bin and it was so strange to see. He isn't exactly Madonna but still a multi-millionaire rockstar and he's known for being very down to earth but it really threw me. I can just about imagine him being a normal person because I've seen enough pics that demonstrate that he is,but there's still some disconnect and even then I just can't imagine other celebrities in the same way. Especially the Madonnas of the world.

celebrities are 2 people: the shiny celeb you see dressed, papped etc etc. behind closed doors many are leading boringness lives with kids like us.

once the door is shut the slippers are on ! I can`t understand why op would not imagine them doing normal things. the celeb bit is a job.

wibbleee · 11/04/2019 13:17

worked in a shop where celeb came in regulary (just in the high street), with hubby etc. seriously no one batted an eyelid and they are on tv a fair bit.

also in pubs etc nearby, seen in local village etc a few celebs. honestly no one bothers! maybe its the no one bothering around here that encourages them to live in the area. they can just "be".

Yes.

Also I find the concept of God ridiculous (apologies!) But also the concept of everything coming from nothing impossible too. (But also god coming from nothing!)

MockerstheFeManist · 11/04/2019 13:21

In some ways not. If you are for any reason in the public eye, you will be sent free clothes and shoes, in the hope that you will be spotted wearing them.

The celebrity thing works both ways, I've a few friends who are famous, one would be described as A list. I can't get my head round his other life as whenever I see him it's all normal kid related stuff. Seeing him in the media is like a different person.
