How do I pass time....

I'm recovering from a serious operation so thought iy would be nice to accompany DH on a day trip away.
He dropped me at a shopping centre at 9.30 and will collect me at 3pm (ish)
It's dire. I've done all the shops and currently sat in Costa wondering how the hell I'm going to get to 3pm.
You know when you wish you'd stayed at home......

Is there a cinema nearby? Would you be able to get a taxi to somewhere more interesting?

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/04/2019 11:19

I assume that this shopping centre doesn't have a cinema? No library close by? Can you get public transport somewhere else?

TheQueef · 11/04/2019 11:21

Kindle app?

chocatoo · 11/04/2019 11:24

Cinema? Library?
Find a book shop then a nice coffee shop where you can sit with your book/mags. Buy a sketch pad/paints and find somewhere to sketch.

chocatoo · 11/04/2019 11:25

Or buy some nice stationery and write letters/ cards to friends. Or start a bullet journal.

BlueMerchant · 11/04/2019 11:26

Go and have a look in a Waterstones or WHS and have a good browse and choose a book. Then I'd go for a light lunch and sit and read.

FauxFox · 11/04/2019 11:32

Nail bar?
Make up counter makeover?
Card shop and buy thoughtful birthday cards for the whole year?

Gigia · 11/04/2019 11:33

Get your nails or hair done? Cinema? Relaxing lunch, glass of wine and a book?

chocolatebuttonsandcheese · 11/04/2019 11:34

Long lunch over a book (3 courses) then 2pm cake and tea

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/04/2019 11:34

If there's a supermarket, rearrange the herbs and spices into rude words .

I was all for a book and coffee suggestion until I read Barbara’s suggestion. Don’t forget the shops with candles with initials too!

Palominoo · 11/04/2019 11:39

Art gallery? Museum? Feed the ducks in the park and sunbathe/relax if warm enough?

Beauty treatment if you can find a walk in appointment. Blow dry? Nails? Massage?

Borntobeamum · 11/04/2019 12:49

I'm at an out of town one. Birchwood in Warrington. No big stores. No cinema. There's a Costa where I had toast and a coffee earlier, a Greggs and a couple of indipendant coffee shops that look as if they serve miserable food.
There's an Asda bug I've been In 3 times already.
My plan is to saunter slowly to a McDonald's which is in the car park, order some food and eat it very slowly.

Taxi to Ikea? Get picked up from there.

reefedsail · 11/04/2019 12:56

There is Betfred and Dream Floors! My my, some people are hard to please! Grin

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/04/2019 12:58

There's a train station right outside the shopping centre. Go see where that could take you? DH will be able to pick you up from somewhere else, as long as he knows where you are.

Just text him with the address of the new place and he can use google maps on his phone to get there.

Borntobeamum · 11/04/2019 13:01

Unable to move from here as dhs car is for work use only and he can pick me up from directly outside the centre without having to detour.
Sounds petty but just how it is x

Consider a manicure, it’s very relaxing if you get the right person doing it! Just ask for a tidy up and some clear polish if you’re not a fan of big nails.
Any birthdays coming up that you need to buy for? Go to a card shop and stock up, enjoy the funny ones while you’re there.

Borntobeamum · 11/04/2019 13:25

Bought cards. Now on the hunt for Oral B replacement toothbrush heads.
I love a good project! X

Yay, that’s the spirit. Have you got any holidays coming up that you can shop for, be it clothes or travel sized necessities?
