DH Dcs and I going away with friends and their dcs for a few days in July. We want a cheap holiday home or similar type accommodation I've googled it but can't really find anything in our price range. We are looking to go round about the middle of England area (handy for Alton towers).

Anyone know any good websites?

I don’t think you’ll get cheaper than Airbnb, which usually has quite a range. I try Sykes cottages and cottages4you and also regional ones - things like north wales holiday cottages (only if going to north wales obviously!)

I think the fact that you want to go in July is going to mean that everything is expensive.

I've used Sykes and cottages.com in the past.

I also booked through holiday lettings (which is part of trip advisor) but the booking was cancelled when the owner sadly passed away, so no experience of the full process.

Not too long ago I came across a particular cottage which was bookable through owners direct, holiday lettings & Airbnb. I was surprised that Airbnb was cheapest, despite their separate cleaning fee & service fee (though obv those vary from property to property). I think the other sites must take a bigger chunk for themselves.

Anyway agree with PP that July is going to be expensive wherever you look.

You get a 7% Mumsnet discount on cottages.com btw. Not going to make a huge difference but better than a poke in the eye.
