EasyJet flight... can I bring cabin case and handbag?

Would appreciate recent flyers on easyJet guidance

Only taking cabin luggage. Can I bring a small handbag in addition? The website say just one cabin case but do they take issue if you bring a small handbag containing wallet and passport etc? Thanks

Your handbag needs to be able to fit in the cabin bag. And they will make you put it in pre-boarding.

I flew with them at the weekend and they seemed fine with small handbags but stopped people with slightly larger ones-e.g. big enough for a laptop

LordWheresMyShoes · 10/04/2019 15:29

Yes just make sure you can fit it in the case.

You handbag needs to fit in your cabin bag....however coming back to the uk it wasn’t exactly checked

MumUndone · 10/04/2019 15:30

I always have my handbag in addition to my hand luggage and have never been stopped but perhaps that's just luck.

BarbaraofSevillle · 10/04/2019 15:33

See if you are allowed an airport shopping bag. If you are, you can put your handbag in there because they are unlikely to look in it.

A good reason to hang onto a spare airport shopping bag to reuse, which of course, we all do these days.

Otherwise, yes your handbag needs to go in your cabin case. Or don't bother with one and put your passport etc in pockets in clothing or the outside of the one carry on bag.

If you want to guarantee without a risk of getting charged, you can take an extra bag if you have paid for an extra legroom or upfront seat etc.

You're allowed one bag of duty free shopping so I just stick my handbag in that bag. I often just bring a bag from home that I know has a shop at the airport (Boots etc).

@BarbaraofSevillle

Brilliant advice. So true. Thank you!

Yes I’ve been allowed with shopping bag. That’s great, thanks
I’ll leave space to squeeze/shove/man handle if necessary though

Thanks to you too. But with Easyjet, the flexi boarding or extra legroom is another good tip if available.

Last time we flew easyjet, we paid about £56 for the extra legroom seats, but the extra luggage allowance it bought meant that we could get away with one less hold bag, which would have cost about the same if not more, so cost neutral, and we got to board first and fly in a little more comfort.

I took a small handbag (big enough for phone, passport, documents and a hairbrush only) in addition to my carryon but my carry on wasn't max size

Romax · 10/04/2019 18:36

I have got lucky and I didn’t pay for allocated seating but I’ve been given the most expensive type of seat you can select!

Don’t suppose you know if I’ll be entitled to the extra luggage despite not having selected?

I think there's a difference - if it was a small over body one phone purse in it and passport etc just to keep it accessible and safe i haven't found them to bat an eyelid if you have an handbag big enough to live out of for a weekend then there's an issue

francienolan · 10/04/2019 22:25

I always take a clutch/wristlet when flying easyjet instead of my normal bag, that way it fits in the zipper pocket on the outside of my carry on bag. It's super easy to access that way. In my experience they do make you put the smaller bag into your main cabin bag.

Worked a treat

I flew 2 weeks ago. No one mentioned my small handbag.

whitehalleve · 11/04/2019 22:28

With a normal sized handbag I've always been fine.

RunAlexRun · 12/04/2019 12:31

I always wear a small crossbody handbag when I fly easyJet. I wear my coat over the top for boarding so no one even sees it.

S1naidSucks · 12/04/2019 12:42

I take a rucksack that is acceptable cabin bag size and a smaller laptop size rucksack. I also take the same for my adult child. You can easily pack 2 weeks worth of clothes, if you pack properly. Use the Marie Kondo or similar methods. I put my heavier items in my smaller bag. I do pay for the extra leg room though. It actually works out cheaper to book the extra leg room and carry an extra bag, than it does to put a case in the hold.
