DH has been quoted £600 for a root canal - does that sound right? Can he get this on the NHS, the website says it’s £62 on the NHS!

I don’t understand how dentists work at all, any help would be very much appreciated.

I paid £750.

Private endodontists tend to have more time to spend on root canal work and may have better equipment than NHS dentists, therefore it should have a higher success rate.

What’s an endodontist? I think DH is just going to a dentist?

An endodontist is a dentist specializing in root canal work.

Normal dentists can do this too. But it is complicated and time consuming. Therefore, your normal dentist may not have the time or expertise to do it properly.

If you can afford it, you may be better bring treated by someone who does root canals every day, rather than occasionally.
