Wwyd job chasing for second interview

I had a phone interview last week. I thought it went badly as they ended it with, well thank you for your time we’ll be in touch can you now apply via the normal job application site and then we can see you’ve applied.
They called me up as I was on their system from years ago when they interviewed me and I turned down a role, I thought if they wanted me they wouldn’t ask me to then go an apply on LinkedIn alongside everyone else when they had already carried out a first interview. Yesterday they emailed me asking if I’m still interested. I missed the email as my phone was broken and haven’t applied on LinkedIn.

I feel like I’ve missed my chance as I’ve left everything so late this is surely starting off on the wrong foot for even a second interview?! Or maybe I’m just lacking the confidence or something. I’m not normally like this. I can’t make my mind up as to what to do!

I think maybe the first interview was more of a screening than interview - you had previously applied and been unsuccessful so they were checking to see if you are suitable for the new role.

I dont think youve left it too late. They are obviously interested in you. But dont they need to document all the applications theyve received? Hence asking you to apply officially.

Thanks @redexpat I think I’m being a complete wimp about it all.
Actually I hadn’t thought of it as a screening process but I think you’re right.

I'd apply online, especially if they've chased and asked if you're still interested! They've obviously at least a little keen on you otherwise they wouldn't have bothered emailing.

What's the worst that can happen? Smile Better to take an opportunity and fail than to leave it and never know 'what might have been'
