Oh my goodness, thought nothing could beat the Sainsbury's chocolate and caramel hcbs until I went and bought the Aldi rhubarb and custard Ones on the recommendation of this thread... bloody gorgeous!!😍

I wasn't particularly impressed by Heston's "Simnel inspired" hot cross buns from Waitrose.
Admittedly you were advised to toast them and I couldn't wait. I found them dry and not enough presence of marzipan.

Mine - best thing to make and leave to rise overnight then bake when you get up for breakfast
Usually stick to traditional recipe but DS wanted to add chopped dried apple the other day and that was yum too.

@catinboots99 Booths is the best supermarket and only found up north as southerners aren’t worthy 😉

I have bought Tesco bakery ( didn't get to eat one though, DH did and said they were "doughy" ) and some Waitrose mini HCB (which were delish)

I don't even allow cranberries in my HCB let alone chocolate or rhubarb

I don't want to peak too soon, but I'll be buying some on Thursday for Fri morning breakfast . Either Waitrose (regular sized bakery) or Sainsbury bakery .
Lemon curd on lightly toasted HCB , no butter .

I commented earlier that the M & S salted caramel and chocolate buns are lush. Well I have just this minute tried the Waitrose chocolate and Orange buns and those too are also bloody lush 😋😋😋😋☺️
