Companies House - better to reopen dissolved company, or to start new one?

Sorry for long title. I dissolved a company a year ago as it was no longer working for me (was employed as 'me' on short term contracts).

This year, I've been offered a couple of bigger contracts so would like to put them through a Ltd company. Plus I work out of my house a lot, so would be good to put coffees and meeting expenses through.

Is it better to re-open old company (£100), or to start afresh (£10)? Are there implications?

Any help welcomed...

It depends if there is a benefit to you in being known under the same company name as before

Thank you, listsandbudgets ... Good point. Or, I suppose, if it's worth reopening the accounts of the old business...

Would love to hear more, does anyone have experience?

A further question about this, I hope someone can help me.

If I reopen my old company, can I put expenses incurred this tax year (so far) through it? I bought a cheap laptop for my work the other day and it occurred to me that I could put it through my business account. If I opened the old company again, could I do this?

Or even through the new company? I can't find this answer anywhere and my accountant is away at the moment.

I don't think this is the right board for this? Perhaps look at the money section there may be a better place for it or click on Talk and see what other caragories there are you might get a more experienced answer there.
Good luck with whatever you choose

Thanks. Why can't it go into chat? I don't mind people chatting about their experiences - in fact, the more the merrier!
