Toddlers first passport.

I’ve applied online for my toddlers first passport and it’s just been confirmed by a friend. I’m a little confused as to what to send down to the passport office other than her birth certificate. Do I need to send another application? Photos? Help!

There should be a checklist list with your online application telling you what you need.
If you uploaded the photos online and your friend has verified them online then you may just need birth cert.
However if you have done a paper version then photos, completed form and birth cert probably need to be sent.
Check the online info or ring the passport office...

Print out what they gave you to download and follow the instructions. It should be obvious it you read that. You have to have your countersignatory sign the form and the backs of your photos and write what it says on the form on the back of the photos. Then you send the whole lot off to HM Passport.

Countersignatory thing can be done by email now and did you upload photos by phone (there online method has changed quite a bit from before). If countersignstory but and photos are done then it should just be birth certificate that needs to go. Did you supply your passport numbers on the application too?

The address given for you to send your paperwork contains the passport application number so they can match the stuff you send with your online application. Have they not specified what you need to send?

God my first message was full of mistakes. Bloody phone!

dementedpixie · 09/04/2019 08:16

mindutopia online applications don't need all that now and photos can be uploaded by phone.

TheMinkette · 09/04/2019 08:49

I don’t think that’s correct for new applications dementedma, I’ve recently done an online application for my baby and still had to send physical countersigned photos in (although I did take them myself)

www.gov.uk/get-a-child-passport/first-child-passport I'm just saying what this says. Plus it's the way my sister did her ds's first child application a few weeks ago

MyKingdomForBrie · 09/04/2019 08:56

What @dementedpixie said. If you're British national by birth and gave your passport number you need only send birth cert.

dementedpixie · 09/04/2019 08:56

Apply online

To apply online you’ll need:

  • adigital photoof your child (or a device that takes digital photos)
  • supporting documents
  • a credit or debit card

It costs £49. It takes around 3 weeks to get the passport.

Ask someone to confirm your child’s identity

After you’ve paid and submitted the application, you’ll need to ask someone to confirm your child’s identity.

Let the person know that they’ll receive an email from HM Passport Office telling them what to do. They’ll confirm your child’s identity online - they do not need to sign a printed photo

I just redid my kids and had to send countersigned photos. (For me it was all done online). So.... however you do it, make sure you read the documents that you have. Do not take advice from here next it sounds like there are a number of different methods around.

dementedpixie · 09/04/2019 09:05

Did you do the kids ones online too? Normally only need countersigned photos if you are sending a paper form. I did 3 renewals recently including 1 child one. All done online with uploaded pictures

user1474894224 · 11/04/2019 01:26

No @dementedpixie when I started the process for the kids it allowed me to complete the form online, pay online but then I had to print out the form and send a countersigned photo. - I did my passport renewal the same day and I completed everything online...took and uploaded my own photo.

dementedpixie · 11/04/2019 07:35

How long ago did you do it? Ours were all done online on 10th March. Maybe some are being done by the new method and some by the old method.

Gullanemomma · 13/04/2019 09:22

When I called the passport office they said that since I’d already entered mine and my husbands details online all I needed to send was her birth certificate. 😀
Reading all your answers is so confusing, how can it be so different for everyone. 🤪
Anyway, fingers crossed they don’t need anything more info! I’ll report back any info xx
