Tell me about your car

So, I’ve currently got a Zafira that I bought because we had three in car seats plus DSS.

Five years later, DSS is an occasional passenger (soon to be 18 so not often about!) and two elder boys are tall enough to not need seats anymore (although I’d prefer them to remain in the high back booster).

I want to get rid of the Zafira because it’s 20 years old now and becoming costly to repair. Plus there’s obviously tax and I’m conscious that’s it’s not very carbon footprint friendly, although I don’t drive that much tbh.

My budget is probably round £3k, I’ve been searching on Auto Trader but before I start going round test driving I was hoping some Mumsnetters could tell me what car they have?!

Must be at least five seater, pref low or no car tax, pref stop/start eco wotsit. Would like a large boot but not a deal breaker, happy to just be able to get shopping in it. Not bothered about engine size.

TIA!

Eg - does anyone have a Fiesta?

I always thought they were tiny but one I’m looking at the boot looks massive!

I’ve got a B-Max which is like an mpv fiesta. Huge boot, low tax, economical, slidey doors. It’s amszing! Ugly to look at, yes. But great to drive!

Thanks I’ll keep an eye out 👍🏻 I’m so not fussed on looks!

Fiesta boot is pretty big. I have a Micra which is also not bad. Just moved house and got 2 deep bookcases in it. Was quite proud of that achievement. Not much room in the back for passengers if tall driver though x

We have a Focus that sounds like it would fit the bill for you. Obvs very like Fiesta just that bit wider for growing boys.

Shortandsweet96 · 08/04/2019 19:40

Golf? I love my golf, £30 a year to tax.

Focus! I knew I was forgetting an obvious one.

My mum has a micra and she’s coming up to visit. I might have a little go of it. She’s taken the boys on hols before so I know she has room.

Golf or Punto were the cars of my dreams when I first started driving!
