How to remove burnt milk from the hob plate?

It's a metal plate. I don't have bicarbonate of soda. Is there anything else that I can use? TIA

Cover it with a wet cloth, it should come off easily after a little soak

Make a paste of washing powder and paint it on thick and leave it. It will slide off tomorrow.

Biological clothes washing liquid is great for breaking down food. A bit of that on the damp cloth as above will help.

I use this stuff on my electric hob. Get it from the supermarket.
