Unexpected 3rd baby in shock

Finishing ma assignment so felt sick and stressed last couple weeks. Today I realised my boobs were sore and then realised I had a period.
We’re in the middle of moving dd school, ds’ nursery, moving house, Dh had massive promotion so last few weeks have been chaos. I must be 6-8 weeks.
Cannot believe it total accident we’ve always ruled out a 3rd.
I can’t begin to get my head around the logistics of 3. Worried about telling dd she’s got so many changes atm already.
Feel odd.

Deep breaths! You’ve got time to figure this out. No need to say anything for now to your DCs. How does your DH feel about this? I think the best thing the two of you could do at the moment is get a babysitter one evening, go for a nice meal in the neighbourhood just the two of you, and talk openly in a relaxed environment about how you want to handle this. Don’t try to make any big decisions on the fly at home amidst the chaos. Time out... and I hope you’ll have a chance to feel excited about this! These “accidents” can be quite a shocker... I know... Big hug.

I think speak to your DH and decide together what is best for your family currently.

If you’d already started in your job before you got pregnant, you’ll probably still be entitled to some sort of mat leave. But I might hold off on asking HR too many questions about that until you finish your probation period. How much longer is that?

I know this all feels sudden, but don’t forget, pregnancy lasts absolutely FOREVER... you’ve got loads of time to figure this out when you’re not feeling first-trimester-crummy. Give yourself a bit of time to digest this news, OP. It really sounds like your pushing yourself pretty hard right now. You’ve managed two kids. You’ve got this. Just make sure that DH is on board and you’re able to handle this as a team.

With regards to work- will you have worked for them for 26 weeks by the time you are about 25 weeks pregnant? That’s the usual qualifying period for SMP. And depends on their maternity pay policy

Litttlepinkegg · 08/04/2019 17:16

Worked there since September.
Just can’t process how this is going to work but we’ll have to make it work.
Dh is a star as always and said it’s a shock for him but a lovely shock and we can do this.
Just feels like We are under ridiculous pressure at the same time I’m not ‘not happy’ the situation either just very very surprised 😮

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Try and come to terms with it. I had a 3rd dc by accident. He's wonderful and all grown up.

Congratulations OP

Thank you all just so much to deal in general and now pregnancy on top I don’t do things by halves 😂

It may be worth talking through all your options then at least you and DH are on the same page

AuntMarch · 08/04/2019 18:16

You should be fine with work if you've been there since September...how long is your probation?!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Litttlepinkegg · 08/04/2019 18:53

Thanks all just cannot get my head round it all such a shock. Everything’s been such a rush last few weeks so I should have probably realised sooner but was so distracted.
