Can you recommend anywhere to visit with older children?

We really enjoyed Hampton Court Palace so something similar to that would be great. We based in Berkshire and will travel up to an hour.

Any ideas? We seem to have done everything, but I know Mumsnetters are great at thinking of good ideas! Kids love history, mazes, generally learning new stuff. They are 15.13 and 9.

Thanks.

How about the Verulamium in St Albans. Not the same scale as HCP but great if DC are into history:

St Albans is 1hr and 30mins drive away, so further than you specified, but there is lots to do. you can tour the clocktower and climb up to the top, look round the abbey and the verulamium roman museum and if you go on a saturday, the town centre holds a market. all the best x

Might be a little too far but warwick castle is great.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 08/04/2019 19:08

Yeah some are a little far. I’m looking for tomorrow specifically and Dh needs to be back by 3.30pm but I’m keeping them saved for other days.

Not a place to visit but if they love history check out the Rex factor podcast-and the fb page often has historical places to visit mentioned

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 08/04/2019 19:31

Thank you, I’ll look that up too.
