Looking for 2 nights in Devon on way to Cornwall. Want spa and pool plus nice food and a few things to occupy the teenager. This looks ok but mixed trip asvisor reviews...so anyone been?

I got married there!!! Many many eons ago.

Its quite a way off the Devon to Cornwall road. I assume you will be going to the North Coast of Cornwall but its still a hell of a diversion.

Which way are you travelling?

Kez200 · 08/04/2019 19:19

If you really want that area, have you looked into Saunton Sands hotel? That used to have a good reputation. But I havent lives in North Devon for 30 years so I am hardly up to date, sadly.

We're local. My sister works in a hotel locally, she has used the spa at wollacombe Bay occasionally and thinks it's alright for half a day. Food can be hit and miss. I will ask her if she has any recommendations. But Staunton Sands is lovely, we buy lots of raffle tickets in hopes of winning prizes there.

It's lovely! Expensive though.

I think a lot of its charm (and why they charge so much) is bevause of the location

RooKangaroo · 08/04/2019 19:43

.... because of the location - leads onto the beach and has its own private land entrance down to the beach. Woolacombe beach is amazing but the seafront is actually very small in terms of shops and hotels, so they've got a prime location.

Food and rooms are nice, but if you're staying you should make sure you use as much of the extras as you can - beach, pool, spa, etc.

I've been a few times, get a sea view , it is a lovely hotel

Overseasmom100 · 08/04/2019 22:56

It seems to have alot to do for us all...spa, pool, pitch and put, games room, cinema

Im.not sure just wanted 2 days in a lovely hotel/spa before we go to Cornwall in rented cottage

Is it en route or will you be making a diversion to get there? Where is your ultimate destination?
