How to stop slugs getting in?

Every morning I come downstairs there's a slug trail all over my lovely rug I'm sick of scrubbing it. We're renting and I'm just getting fed up with it now. DS left his shoes and bag in there yesterday and it's got a trail over it.

How do we stop this? I'm guessing their coming through the front door.

Check floors and skirting boards for gaps. That's where ours come in. We use the clear silicone stuff to fill any gaps as we see them. Also check where any pipework comes in from outside and make sure there are no gaps. Shut windows at night and check windows and doors have no gaps. It's amazing how massive slugs can squeeze through the tiniest hole.
