menstrual cup questions

I was just reading an article that suggested different eco-friendly sanpro. I want to try a menstrual cup but have two questions. Warning in advance - tmi

  1. I get thrush quite regularly. I don't feel like tampons make it worse but they certainly don't help. Has anyone else had experience of using a menstrual cup with thrush?
  2. I took a quiz I saw on here which told me which cup to get based on age, pregnancy history etc. But now I've seen this cup which is the same size as they recommend but also looks easier to insert.
www.intimina.com/lily-cup But I can't find any reviews about this brand- just a load of positive PR Has anyone on here tried them?

I'm not sure whether the menstrual cup would necessarily affect the thrush. I've used one for years and never had thrush with it, but I did get thrush from time to time back when I used tampons. It wasn't regular enough to say if there's a link though.

If I was in your position, I would try it out but I would be careful with cleanliness- washing hands before insertion and giving it clean in warm water with a gentle soap like Cetaphil when changing it, and boiling each month.

Have a look on youtube for reviews of that cup. Precious Star Pads will have done one, but there will be lots of others too.

I got the cheapst. Only ever used one and have Nothing to compare with and it can be difficult to get out! But brilliant otherwise. Cheaper in long run and no waste. Wish i converted earlier. Think thrush thing would benefit from cup over towels and tampons. Much less irritation.

Thanks both! I will look at video reviews - hadn’t thought of that

Funny you say that, I had thrush a lot more often when I used tampons with pant liners. Put it down to the pant liners though. I’ve used a cup for years now and have less. I also use washable liners and pads at night (belt and braces due to endometriosis). I did this quiz to decide which cup to buy and I’m happy with my choice.
