Would you go to the doctor for this?

I fell over a while back (6weeks?) and hurt my arm. The first few days were quite painful and I couldn't move it. Assumed it was bruised and didn't use it much. Lower arm still hurts about 5 cm up from the elbow in particular motions, if I try to lift something down from a shelf, if I put my arm behind my back, lifting something heavy. And it often aches. Seems a bit silly to go to the doctor about something that happened so long ago.... I have some stuff to shift from the loft this week and not 100% sure I'll manage it. Is this just because I'm getting old? The last times I went to the doctor she said (foot pain) nothing we can do, will only get worse and (knee injury) not a lot we can do, be careful (breast pain) it's probably a bruise. Bit reluctant to go but not sure what I should do or how long I should expect it to take to heal from a bash.

I think you should get checked over. That's a long time not to have healed.

After 2 months of pain I finally was diagnosed with a metatarsal stress fracture and treated with a boot. It's definitely worth having even an older injury looked at.

I'd be tempted to go to a minor injuries unit or urgent care centre just in case you need an X ray (and because they deal mostly in injuries).

Muscle injuries can take a long while to heal.

Is it actually getting worse than when you first did it or is it slowly improving?

Is the pain bad enough to need constant pain killers?

Maybe call your surgery to see what they say and consider waiting a while to allow it to fully heal unless it gets worse.

Hard to say. It aches a lot. I'm rearranging DD's room and lifted a shelf (Ikea, narrow wardrobe) and it just fell out of my hand Confused

No I wouldn't go. You're able to do daily function with it.

DaftQuery · 07/04/2019 21:19

See, that's why I think I shouldn't. But then part of me says I should because if e.g. I 'm sat on the sofa and stretch my arm out to lift a cup of tea, then it hurts, and it shouldn't really. Same lifting my arm to use/type on the iPad for the evening I know, I probably use it too much! it aches after 10 mins. I'm not one for running to the doctors, I still have the breast pain 9 months on, so maybe I just bruise easily and don't heal.

Your doctor sounds crap. Nothing she can do for anything it seems....
I’d go, but see a different one!

MajesticWhine · 07/04/2019 22:22

You might have broken your arm. Could be something less serious and it is probably healing slowly, but yes, I would definitely go for this (and hope you get a more helpful doctor)

lyralalala · 08/04/2019 06:44

I would get your arm checked. Also if you have breast pain 9 months later please get a second opinion on that also.

Whereareyouspot · 08/04/2019 06:47

Please go and mention both

Breast pain in the same place that isn’t coming and going with your period needs a mammogram.
The arm pain may have been a nasty soft tissue injury but may ring a bell with your doc linked to the breast pain- just go.

Please insist on a mammogram and an X-ray for your arm.

How old are you?

DaftQuery · 08/04/2019 09:58

I don't have periods (well, I do but rarely) because I'm on the pill. I'm 38.

So...the arm is thought to be a soft tissue injury and (new) doctor is certain it will just take time. Was referred for a scan and found a cyst although I will get official results tomorrow, the lady who scanned me said it didn't look serious and could be due to monthly cycle (which I don't have). Google or wait until I hear from doctor tomorrow?
