Mooncup leaking

I've had my mooncup for over eight years and recently it seems to leak more often than I'd like. Used to leak maybe once a month on night one or two which I put down to not being emptied for longer and laying down. But recently on heavier days (I don't particularly have heavy periods, usually just one or two days) it can start leaking after less than an hour.

Last month I used tampons after I leaked overnight and blood was leaking down my leg in the shower even with my cup in. The month before on day four when I thought the flow had slowed, we were out for the day an hour from home, and I leaked visibly all over my jeans, so we had to go home.

Do mooncups stop working as well after a while, so I need a new one? Loathe to spend money on a new one if I'm just not suited to them any more.

The times when it leaks: is it completely full when you take it out?

If yes, try a larger capacity (e.g. Super Jennie) and maybe a back up plan (e.g. period pants).

If no: try placing it slightly higher/lower, or try a different brand.

I think I might try a different brand as sometimes it's full, and sometimes it leaks when I've just out it in. I did the questionnaire on putacupinit and it recommended a couple of different brands. It didn't have an option for 'it leaks' so I chose 'it slips down' which isn't quite right, but I couldn't choose 'I'm happy with my cup and just want to try different brands'

You twist it after inserting?

If it doesn't feel right then yes, but not every time

Half a turn seals it so if you don't do that it's likely to leak.
