I went to top secret comedy club in Covent Garden on a work night out recently and it was fabulous.
I was totally shocked at how professional all of the acts were. I think if you get there early it’s either free or very cheap entry as well

Yes to be honest it is very rough and ready. If being in a nice venue is a priority then a lot of the central London comedy clubs probably won’t be what you’re looking for. I didn’t pay for any drinks but I would imagine central London prices, there’s really not much difference anywhere in zone 1

Comedy Store near Piccadilly Circus is usually good.

The Bill Murray in Angel is excellent! They have a free comedy evening every Saturday - four comedians and a compere. You pay what you think it's worth at the end of the shows, there's one at 7.30 and one at 9. It's tiny, so worth getting there an hour or so before the show starts.
