Should I be worried? I have over a year left on my passport and have just renewed my daughters. However I'm worried brexit will affect travel etc :/

You will moreee than likely be fine. When do you go?

DisplayPurposesOnly · 07/04/2019 15:19

So you have valid passports? What exactly are you worried about then?

SoupDragon · 07/04/2019 15:20

It's only potentially an issue if you have less than 6 months left when you travel.

lardass88 · 07/04/2019 16:01

Ah thanks @SoupDragon

You'll be 100% fine Smile

TalkinPaece · 07/04/2019 18:44

July - you'll be fine
flights - you'll be fine

its the road / ferry / tunnel crossings that will be fucked if there is no deal next Friday

ReginaGeorgeous · 07/04/2019 18:55

You'll be fine. Have you booked a package? I've got a holiday booked for August and have it in writing from Thomas Cook that in the unlikely event they cannot operate the flights due to Brexit, we will receive a full refund.

lardass88 · 07/04/2019 20:32

I booked it with TUI so fingers crossed all will be ok.

So people asking what the problem is do realise you need 6 months on your passport if you have to travel to a country where you need visas? I think we're so used tooting around Europe unhindered that we've lost sight of how complicated it can be to travel elsewhere Sad.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 07/04/2019 20:38

I wouldn't worry. Between us, DH, DS and I have seven trips booked in next few months, two driving, and DH also works in France on a regular basis. I've just made sure passports have six months, made sure we have travel insurance, and just have to make sure we have driving stuff sorted.

Expecting some pretty major delays at the Tunnel, mind you.

OKBobble · 07/04/2019 20:45

You will be fine if you think itbis a Brexit thing. There are delay warnings if travelling to Greece though over internal changes to passport control but nothing to do with all the reasons you list.

confusedofengland · 07/04/2019 20:49

You will be fine as long as you have 6 months left on passports.

Other things to be aware of:

  • Make sure travel insurance covers medical stuff, instead of EHIC
  • If driving, get an international driver's licence (Over the counter at larger post offices, take passport photo, £5.50)
  • If taking own car get green card through your insurers. Also ensure you have a GB sticker.
  • Exchange some currency before Brexit, in case exchange rates mean you get less for your money

We flew to Portugal yesterday & experienced no problems at all. We return after the current Brexit date so waiting to see what's what then!
