Why is my tumble dryer not drying??

It's taking ages to dry stuff. It's a condenser. Filters are clean. Water thing is empty. It's getting warm but the clothes don't seem to be getting dry fast. I've been tumbling half a load for hours now!

Are you sure that the water tank is pressed in properly?
Can you hear the machine draining the water into the tank once the cycle is complete?
Ive had many issues with the sensors on mine - but that usually causes the machine to stop.

Is the drum actually turning?

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/04/2019 13:58

Are ALL the filters clean?

hopeishere · 07/04/2019 13:58

Yes, it won't function if the water thing isn't in right there's clips to hold it. I've never heard water draining in it. It's 11 years old!!

My condenser dryer failed to get hot after the sensor stopped working. It was a hotpoint and 10 yrs old so repair not recommended.

hopeishere · 07/04/2019 14:00

Yes all flitters clean. Some were bogging so I though that might have been the issue. I assume the drum is turning. It's making a noise. Although... I can't be sure. Hmmmm.

The drums not turning. Just laid a tee shirt flat and ran it and opened it and it hadn't moved. Can just about rotate it manually.

Seems like the heated element is broken if its not got heat if its not turning then something is broken at the back bit that makes it turn, both of these have happend to me.

Get in touch with a local repair shop should be easy enough if it’s just the belt. If it’s the pulley and jockey wheel as well might be time for a new one as these appliances are made to last 6-8 years.

MissKenton · 07/04/2019 18:33

Mine broke down last week. Same issue as you. It was the heating element. I ended up getting a new one.

Luckyguess · 07/04/2019 19:36

Have you checked the condenser unit is clean? If this needs rinsing the drying performance is less.

hopeishere · 07/04/2019 19:39

It has got heat. But the drum isn't going round but you can move it round if you push it on the inside.

Will see if I can get a repair person out.

It was taking longer to dry stuff so maybe it's come to a natural end.
