Parcels delivered to ‘safe place’

just looking for some advice on whether I can claim a refund on an item - delivery drivers often leave parcels on our doorstep (no safe place, fully accessible from the road) and they go missing. Normally this is only Dpd and the like, who usually take a photo of this ‘safe place’ and I get a new item sent without issue.

This time round it is several parcels delivered by Royal Mail. They were obviously left on the doorstep and taken. One parcel in particular is worth £50. It has tracking info, which states ‘delivered’, so as far as the company are concerned Royal Mail have delivered it to me. Anyone been through this palava before? Do I just keep insisting to the company that it hasn’t been delivered?

Every time this has happened to me I've successfully been able to get a refund, regardless of courier etc . Where did you buy from?

Dpd in my area have the option to change delivery to a convenience store or shop. It's brilliant service.

Ok, I’ll keep inisisting. It’s a reputable UK company who I’ve bought from before, they may well still refund me so I won’t name them yet. Bloody Royal Mail, how is leaving it on the doorstep ‘delivered’?!

As there is no signature, RM cannot prove its been delivered.

I find that Royal Mail are the only company who never leave the parcels, not even with a neighbour. If I'm not in then I need to collect from the delivery offices. I think maybe once they left a parcel at the local post office. I have adequate safe space and this is used by other companies with no issue. What are RM saying about it?

I’ve just checked their website and it says in these circumstances to contact the seller who should contact with them. I found the same WaxOn, and even had a chat with the postman recently about how feckless dpd eat al were. Nonetheless someone seems to have delivered them to my doorstep this time round!

Put up a security camera and at least you’ll have proof that they’re leaving them on the doorstep. If you get one of the modern ones that are attached to your doorbell, you can speak to the delivery person, to ask them to take it back, leave in the post office, etc.
