Who lives in a house like this?

I love imagining the lives of people who live in unusual homes. Such diversity exists in where we chose to call home and in what goes on behind closed doors. This, for example. Who thinks, after a quick swim in my Egyptian themed pool, I quite fancy a poolside game of chess!!!

Fabulous house though. I'd quite fancy a great aunt to leave it to me in her will!!

More pics here, including a different view of the creepy amazing pool

The only couple I have met who lives in a house like that was a stockbroker and an advertising executive. I think it's hideous!

HoraceCope · 07/04/2019 08:41

wow

Heulog · 07/04/2019 08:42

It suffers from the 'big house small garden' problem. After all the crazy grandeur of inside I was disappointed to see the plain lawn, was expecting to see fountains and sculptures.

SlidingDoor · 07/04/2019 08:47

Given the area it is in I would say its highly likely that the people who live there are Russian billionaires. We used to live nearby and there were lots of rich Russians with similar taste to that.

HoraceCope · 07/04/2019 08:48

I would say asian,
whoever they are they are flamboyant, the bedroom is quite calm though.

KooMoo · 07/04/2019 08:48

Crumbs that awful. Sorry OP.

HoraceCope · 07/04/2019 08:49

what a shame the outside does not match the inside.

Smelborp · 07/04/2019 08:49

It makes me pleased for my small period house.

Silvercatowner · 07/04/2019 08:49

That pool would be no use to anyone - it's too small to swim in and too big for a bath.
The house is fur coat and no knickers as my granny used to say.

RuggyPeg · 07/04/2019 08:51

No apology needed. I agree, it's truly awful. When I said inherit it, I meant to rip apart and re-do. The bones of it are amazing though. I thought more Asian than Russian.

I would buy this one and have a million spare for upkeep.

If I had 7 million to buy in London I would buy a much smaller place right in the centre. I wouldn't want to have to sit on the Northern Line from East Finchley every day. Plus it's right on the A1. Imagine the traffic noise and fumes.

Bluesheep8 · 07/04/2019 08:53

I love the kitchen floor

MrsBobDylan · 07/04/2019 08:53

Kitchen looks dated and in need of modernisation. The worst part for me is the ginormous entrance hallway with a tiny round table in the middle which looks like the owners nicked it from a seaside b&b circa 1988.

I could fit my whole house into that hallway Grin

Bluesheep8 · 07/04/2019 08:53

Ha, fur coat and no knickers...my mum used to say that too.

Biancadelrioisback · 07/04/2019 08:54

It's the sort of place that you would love to visit but would just be disappointed when you were there. I bet the sofas aren't comfortable, if you forget something in one room its mission to go get it, the pool/bath is too big/small...it is gorgeous though

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/04/2019 08:54

I love rightmove.
I spend nearly as much time on there as on mumsnet.
I'm amazed at how Tidy people have their houses, I know I've made a big effort for Photo Day when selling, but I wonder where all their STUFF is

RuggyPeg · 07/04/2019 08:55

Fabulous pile EndGame! You'd soon rip through your maintenance fund!

Actually, I agree about the kitchen floor - it is so hard to find tiles like this. Everything has patterns on or is beige.

dudsville · 07/04/2019 08:57

That dining room table is too small for the room.

boredboredboredboredbored · 07/04/2019 08:57

I used to be a District nurse in an area with huge house like that (think lots of premiership footballers). What always struck me was that huge houses just aren't homely. Lots of the elderly people lived in the snug with the rest of the place empty and cold, I much prefer a smaller homely place.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/04/2019 09:01

I could buy this twice for money
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-75607514.html

It's been on the market a while
I wonder if they'll accept an offer (£200 and some Tesco vouchers?)

Bringbackthestripes · 07/04/2019 09:11

Weird they have white covers on some of the chairs. Simple bedroom but hideously ornate furniture downstairs and funny how the furniture has been moved in the different listings.

Nanalisa60 · 07/04/2019 09:16

Well as I have always said you can’t buy class !!

Think this house is a perfect example of that saying

juneau · 07/04/2019 09:17

Dear god the decor is hideous and imagine living there with DC - all those frou-frou flouncy curtains and shiny floors for them to crack their heads open on. No thanks!
