Is all about losing weight & appearance, rather than actually how it affects the inside organs and about keeping our bodies healthy so they last longer, both physically and mentally?

Because as a society we place so much emphasis on looks and health comes second to that.

I first started exercising for appearances but now it’s mainly for my mental health and to feel physically strong and healthy. I only found how good it was for my mental well-being once I’d started doing it for appearances sake though.

Yes I started running to lose weight. Now I monitor my weight to improve my running.

I completely agree with you.

Or even just about having fun?

ivykaty44 · 07/04/2019 14:59

or even about just having fun mentally that’s what exercise gives you, a sense of fun & all the endorphins afterwards make you feel good

I agree with you.

worse is, you don't want to exercise in front of other people if you are out of shape bc all the images we get of exercise are super in shape people.

If you look at tv/movies from the 60's - 80's people were mostly thin but didn't have rippling abs or muscles like they do now. seemed more relaxed way to go about things

It’s for socialising and mental health. Losing weight or toning up is a bonus.
