Anyone else on a countdown to gin o'clock?

Period pains.
No heating or hot water, whole system fucked, 3k quote to replace.
DS(2), teething back molars, skipped his nap.
DD(4), hasn't stopped talking since mid 2016, hasn't stopped being contrary since approximately the moment of conception, trying to make me play 'football' with her but it has some strange rules that I keep getting wrong - who even knew football had an It?
Lucky DH gets to be at work!

I wish I liked gin. Could do with some.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 06/04/2019 16:10

Gin is good for period pains, I've heard.

Topseyt · 06/04/2019 16:18

It has always been wine o'clock in this house. But I guess it means the same thing.

Gin o'clock is during a flight in order to calm my nerves. Wine o'clock was always after a day when the kids had driven me round the bend and might sometimes have been accompanied by large amounts of chocolate. Grin

benderinabun · 06/04/2019 16:20

Thisistheendgame are you me?
Also no hot water or heating, also 3k quote to fix Sad
I'm definitely having a (warming) wine at 5pm. Have brought all toys into the lounge where we have an open fire to keep warm but this also means I daren't leave the room as have a 3yr old DS!
Sympathies. Have the gin! Gin

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 06/04/2019 16:21

Is it too soon now??
I have some rhubarb and ginger gin calling out to me...

Lungelady · 06/04/2019 16:22

I have a nice Welsh one which will be poured at 5 o'clock

ThisIsTheEndgame · 06/04/2019 16:32

Currently in the playground. Outside freezing instead of inside freezing. It has turned out to be a good move as some of the DC's local playmates are here and they are all running round like loons blowing off the cobwebs.

I normally rate red wine for period pains but I don't have any.

Oh dear it’s been one of those weeks so wine it is

Anyone else on a countdown to gin o'clock?
BoobiesToTheRescue · 06/04/2019 16:35

I've discovered pink gin and cucumber tonic.

It's a bit toooo nice.
I've already had one this afternoon!

Xiaoxiong · 06/04/2019 16:40

Lunge I also have a nice welsh one waiting to be poured when DH gets back from taking the kids swimming! Dyfi Distillery Pollination Gin Smile

I think I deserve it, we usually do TOMM to keep on top of housework, but this week we were away Mon-Fri and again next week Mon-Fri so today we have done a massive decluttering and cleaning of the playroom (a massive bin bag of stuff gone!) and then I kicked DH and the kids out of the house so I could continue singlemindedly hoovering/dusting/mopping of the entire house with only the bedrooms to go. Thank goodness for podcasts and Bluetooth headphones!! And the promise of gin Grin

Xiaoxiong · 06/04/2019 16:41

(Obviously as a Thighciple I am currently having a bit of a lie down on my bed before tackling the bedrooms...)

Flowersmakemyday · 06/04/2019 16:55

As much as I love gin it's probably not such a good idea tonight as I'm in bed with pain from a huge gallstone. Even with Tramadol the damn pain won't go away - maybe I should have the gin for good measure.

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 06/04/2019 16:55

I have been doing hardcore spring cleaning and gardening all day, so tonight is going to be me, a dry martini and some trashy TV Grin

ForalltheSaints · 06/04/2019 18:36

The person in front of me in Waitrose this afternoon seemed to be.

MrsFTigalar · 06/04/2019 18:50

Yes please (although only in theory as I'm breastfeeding) a large one

"Washing machine broken, DH, DS1, DS2 and me = a mountain of washing. Local friends have helped this far, but the car needed 2 new tyres this month and so we're brassic until payday.
DS2 - 5 months, is teething and so not sleeping, pooing loads and is wildly crabby
DS1 - 4 years is exhausted after second term in reception and so veering from clingy and teary to incredibly naughty
DH... Well, I'm massively irritable so everything he's doing is annoying me.
I've hurt my back as well.

So yes please a large - imaginary - sloe gin please. With a massive portion of tiramisu and a few episodes of Brooklyn 99.

Sexnotgender · 06/04/2019 18:54

I was all set for wine but I'm actually too tired.

9 weeks postpartum, uterus infection and DS had his first immunisations yesterday so sleep was not really had last night.

I did have a nip of whisky at about 2pm though, was visiting my parents and my dad bought a new one to try again it would have been rude to say no 😉

Sexnotgender · 06/04/2019 18:55

I'm breastfeeding too, you can definitely have a drink!

ThisIsTheEndgame · 06/04/2019 19:39

I'm still breastfeeding my 2 year old Blush you can have a drink.

I haven't had a gin yet, DS fell asleep on my lap at 6.40 and DD is happily bandaging my (totally uninjured) leg. They both improved in mood with the application of large quantities of pasta.

managedmis · 06/04/2019 19:41

Reckon you deserve a drink op.

I nearly had wine with lunch Shock but managed to resist

4pm yet anyone? (I know its 4pm there, but it's not 4pm here yet!!)

Lungelady · 06/04/2019 21:30

xiao the same one!!!

ThisIsTheEndgame · 07/04/2019 09:12

No gin was had yesterday but we are going to see Peppa Pig in the cinema today and my period pains are in my hip and thigh so I cannot rule it out today 😂

Xiaoxiong · 07/04/2019 12:06

Lunge what are the odds!!! It's gorgeous gin isn't it!

Lungelady · 07/04/2019 12:40

Indeed it is. We go to the distillery every year. Lovely people.
