One of my friends has been suffering with lymes for well over a year. After conventional treatment did not work, her team were stumped. She is still unable to work and feels incredibly frustrated. Raising awareness will help others in the future.

Hopeful bump. If anyone else can sign.
I too have a family member with this dreadful disease and it could happen to any of us.

Signed. Treatment for Lymes is dire in this country. I had rash and was very ill for a year - lost job as so ill - and NHS refused to even give antibiotics as hadn't seen rash "and didn't know about Lyme" and they just kept running different cancer tests. I got help from a US medic, took antibiotics for Lyme for a few months, double strength and now much better and able to work (from home). Few issues left - mainly can't tolerate exercise and have developed severe allergy - but so much better. Hope your friend can get to a specialist in UK. It's heartbreaking when you read stories of people left untreated here for 9 odd years getting sicker and sicker. I was so ill some of last year I didn't think I would make it to the summer.

I'm in Australia so guess my signing means little. An acquaintance told me with great candour why they hadn't been around. Busy following up on a missing relation with Lyme disease.

They had taken their own life after enduring years of misery with the disease. Which apparently does not exist here. Confused

I understand that suicide is the most common death associated with the disease. Sad I don't say this to wind up posters here, but to acknowledge the hurt, anger and frustration of the person I know.

Signed, I was successfully treated for Lyme disease a couple of years back, but only because a keen eyed GP spotted the bite and rash
