Favourite by yourself Netflix dinners?

What's your favourite evening meal for when you have the house to yourself? I've got a rare few evenings coming up where I have both the time and the tv to myself.

At the moment I'm thinking of baked camembert, but I can't think of anything else. It needs to be low effort to create and take a while to eat.

Pizza and wine or just wine 🍷

TheQueef · 06/04/2019 21:04

Layered nachos with mince and peppers with grilled cheese on top.
Multipack of dips and a large garlic and onion dip.

Settlersofcatan · 06/04/2019 21:05

Oven chips, baked beans and cheese

Cheese and pickle sarnie on white bread dunked in either a pot noodle or Heinz tomato soup

When my dh used to work shifts and the dc were small and in bed early, I would make a range of food for one meals (although that probably isn't how you would describe them...) no 1 was definately nachos and include a tin of refried beans. Fish finger sandwich. Chunky oven chips and Bisto gravy. Or on civilised evenings, a deli plate of mozzarella, olives, tomatoes and some nice chunky bread.

OddestSock · 06/04/2019 21:19

Pizza, then a big bar of chocolate for afters!

fruitpastille · 06/04/2019 21:23

Tesco finest or Charlie Bigham Fish Pie.

BoogieFeet · 06/04/2019 21:24

Only low effort if you’ve got some leftover chilli con carne, but if you have...Chilli, cheese and chips..food of the gods, and goes well with red wine Wine

Stravapalava · 06/04/2019 21:26

Stuff DH doesn't like. Prawns, mussels, clams, scallops. Plus allll the ice cream for afters.

Ninkaninus · 06/04/2019 21:27

Oh I do like a baked Camembert! I like toasted pitta strips to dip into it!

But I’d probably choose a half crispy duck and pancakes with the traditional trimmings, all to myself!

CharDeeMacDennis · 06/04/2019 21:30

This happens for me once in a blue moon, it's amazing!

I normally have a nice steak - can justify the cost when it's one instead of four - steamed or sauteed greens, and dauphinoises or rosti potatoes.

And I have it in front of the TV with a whole film. Wonderful.

Ninkaninus · 06/04/2019 21:31

I don’t normally exclaim everything I say... Hmm

Another option would be lasagne, chips and coleslaw (had never had that ‘til my OH introduced me to it but it really is a tasty combo).

dontticklethetoad · 06/04/2019 21:31

My husband works late every Monday night. I have either spicy bean burgers (Aldi) with roast veg (Inc. cauliflower which is my new favourite thing roasted), linguine with bacon, mushrooms, peppers and pesto or Spanish omelette. I love Mondays!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/04/2019 21:34

Crispy duck all to myself sounds amazing!

Nachos would be another great option.

I layer mine with leftover chilli and lots of cheese, and add a whole smashed avocado with lemon and garlic on the side, plus loads of fresh coriander.

colouringinpro · 06/04/2019 21:38

Waitrose Chicken saag Masala and some yummy white wine Grin

senbei · 06/04/2019 21:39

Katsudon. Think fluffy white rice topped with a deep-fried pork cutlet, runny eggs, and tonkatsu sauce. It's heaven in a bowl and the perfect complement to Netflix!

Ninkaninus · 06/04/2019 21:42

Oh gosh I could do this forever...

M&S ready meals, Thai or Japanese. Whatever main appeals, plus a couple of tasty sides like their Thai fish cakes or Korean (I think?) crispy chicken wings, and a good bottle of sparkling wine.

ValleyoftheHorses · 06/04/2019 21:43

Linguine with wither prawns or crab and asparagus

GenericHamster · 06/04/2019 21:56

Ready made fish pie (a nice one)
Prawn something (husband hates fish/prawn)

EnidButton · 06/04/2019 22:05

M&S do these rice bag with tiny bits of veg and herbs/garlic. I have a Rice and Quinoa one in a pasta bowl, stir in loads of soy sauce and top it with balsamic dressing. Sometime I butter a bit of bread and make a rice sandwich with some of it. Always accompanied by chocolate milk.

Poppadoms dipped in mango chutney, chicken korma and pilau rice is my go to when DH is out for the evening.

Fish finger sandwich with tomato sauce on it and one on the side with a little squirt of mayo.

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 06/04/2019 22:06

Scrambled egg on toast with bacon. Fish finger sandwich

jadeyfly · 06/04/2019 22:29

2 bottles of wine and salted caramel ice cream

vampirethriller · 07/04/2019 07:33

I had the best dinner I've had in ages last night- black pudding and smoked haddock baked in the oven, mushy peas and bread and butter. It was to use up odd bits but it was delicious.

Livpool · 07/04/2019 07:50

Crusty bread with butter (salt and pepper bread is best)
Cheese and crackers

I do 99% of the cooking at home and do enjoy it, however when I am on my own I just can't be bothered
